Facebook’s recent newsfeed policy tweaks suggest that there will be a shift in the digital marketer’s mindset too. Why would a leading social media platform that earned an impressive revenue through ads revise their ad feeds? Maybe this decision also suggests the changing needs of a typical consumer.
I admit that I’m one of the sources of that bouncing. With the rate of change occurring in the marketing world, I think describing what we do is something that isn’t really satisfied by just one phrase. Content, Search, Inbound, Multi-Channel, Integrated, all seem to have their place, but “Digital” seems to express what most companies are creating in their marketing right now.
Apart from the ability to network with friends and relatives, you can also access different Facebook apps to sell online and you can even market or promote your business, brand and products by using paid Facebook ads.

What you get with The Social Network is the most fascinating character study since The Conversation. The Social Network is about the creators of Facebook, specifically a young man named Mark Zuckerberg, as portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg, who’s successes only amplify his guarded insecurity and social ineptitude. Many proponents and critical champions of the film have had the gaul to herald The Social Network as my generation’s Citizen Kane. Well… I think that’s a completely accurate statement to make. Even I agree with them. It actually is my generation’s Citizen Kane. The themes and nods are all there. Hearst as Zuckerberg, right down to the sled. Refresh, refresh, refresh. The Social Network is a very touching and revealing character study about a troubled young man who will become wholly emblematic of his time and place.
Instagram is just a platform for photo sharing. Unlike Facebook you don’t create a profile with information about yourself, but just write a short bio. Then you can upload and edit photos directly in the app. People can like and comment on them, and now there is even a direct messaging capability. For personal use, show your friends and family what you’re up to and photos of your cat. For a more professional audience, share photos of what you create and connect with people that do the same thing. Discover topics and people to different people to follow and find your next favorite photographer

Another key component of digital marketing is mobile marketing. In fact, mobile usage as a whole accounts for 60% of time spent consuming digital media, while desktop-based digital media consumption makes up the remaining 40%. This means that it’s essential to optimize your digital ads, web pages, social media images, and other digital assets for mobile devices. If your company has a mobile app that enables users to engage with your brand or shop your products, your app falls under the digital marketing umbrella, too.
The livestreaming-meets-social category is a growing, and very confusing, one. Even if you don’t want to try and livestream the minutia of your own daily life, being a lurker on everyone else’s uploads can be pretty entertaining.
A simple way to start your social media marketing plan is by writing down at least three social media goals. Make sure to ask yourself what the goal will look like when completed, and use that to determine how you will track it.
As social networking becomes more popular among older and younger sites such as Facebook and YouTube, gradually undermine the traditionally authoritative voices of news media. For example, American citizens contest media coverage of various social and political events as they see fit, inserting their voices into the narratives about America’s past and present and shaping their own collective memories. An example of this is the public explosion of the Trayvon Martin shooting in Sanford, Florida. News media coverage of the incident was minimal until social media users made the story recognizable through their constant discussion of the case. Approximately one month after the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, its online coverage by everyday Americans garnered national attention from mainstream media journalists, in turn exemplifying media activism. In some ways, the spread of this tragic event through alternative news sources parallels that of the Emmitt Till – whose murder became a national story after it circulated African American and Communists newspapers. Social media was also influential in the widespread attention given to the revolutionary outbreaks in the Middle East and North Africa during 2011. However, there is some debate about the extent to which social media facilitated this kind of change. Another example of this shift is in the ongoing Kony 2012 campaign, which surfaced first on YouTube and later garnered a great amount of attention from mainstream news media journalists. These journalists now monitor social media sites to inform their reports on the movement. Lastly, in the past couple of presidential elections, the use of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter were used to predict election results. U.S. President Barack Obama was more liked on Facebook than his opponent Mitt Romney and it was found by a study done by Oxford Institute Internet Experiment that more people liked to tweet about comments of President Obama rather than Romney.
Social media connects us together, like now, we’re in a conversation, we can express out thoughts and share our feelings and tell the world what we want them to know, and social media is one of the best ways in doing that. I think social media is definitely changing our world every second, pictures are being posted all the time around the world.
